AcuRite's Soil Moisture Guide Blogpost is a great start to understanding soil moisture and how it affects different plants in separate ways.

The USGS has a public-use database containing soil profile information for the entire country. You can narrow in on your property to find out the soil type that you have, and if you'll need do to any amending to get your soil to the point where your plants thrive best. 

Eric Snodgrass publishes a weekly Pacific Northwest weather outlook video for AgWest Farm Credit. This guy is super smart, and presents a very in depth weather forecast in a way that's easy to digest and educates you on how weather patterns across the world affect us here at home in the PNW.

With the help of the Oregon Master Gardener Association, OSU has compiled a massive database of over 1,800 native plants, and contains information about if they are native to the Pacific Northwest or if they are an introduced or invasive species.
