The USGS has a public-use database containing soil profile information for the entire country. You can narrow in on your property to find out the soil type that you have, and if you'll need do to any amending to get your soil to the point where your plants thrive best.

With the help of the Oregon Master Gardener Association, OSU has compiled a massive database of over 1,800 native plants, and contains information about if they are native to the Pacific Northwest or if they are an introduced or invasive species.
